THE HYDRANGEA
            ENTHUSIAST!

Judith King
Greeting to all Site Visitors:

Like many of you, I am a hydrangea enthusiast. I don't sell plants, and I don't have a degree in horticulture. But I greatly admire those who do. I'm a member of the CSRA Hydrangea Society (GA/SC) and the American Hydrangea Society.

Everyone who grows hydrangeas loves them because they provide pleasure year round. I especially enjoy studying the different types of hydrangeas and keeping up with the latest developments in the field.

It has been my very good fortune to have worked for a wonderful nursery in North Augusta, SC, for many years - Nurseries Caroliniana. Ted and Gerald Stephens are the owners. Nurseries Caroliniana is an outstanding wholesale and retail nursery that carries hundreds of plants, growing over 70 varieties of hydrangeas. Fortunately, they have finally begun selling plants by mail order. (Their online ordering system is still rudimentary, but their plants are excellent.)

My husband and I now live in Falls Church, VA, where, for the first time, I can study the PeeGee hydrangea. H. paniculata 'Grandiflora' grows beautifully in this area. 'Grandiflora' does not do nearly as well in South Carolina, although many other paniculatas do very well there.

My greatest pleasure is sharing what I have learned about hydrangeas and having others share their hydrangea experiences with me. Having corresponded with hundreds of people who have problems with and comments about hydrangeas, I can share the knowledge I have gained from these people as well as from my own experiences.

Please feel free to email me with your comments or questions. If I don't know the answer to a question, I'll check with horticulturists and others who deal with hydrangeas every day. If you are able to send a picture of your hydrangea with your email - all the better. If your hydrangea has a problem, pictures are truly worth a thousand emails.

Happy Hydrangeas,

Judith King

Thank you for visiting my website. I will be away from my email for awhile and will be unable to answer questions until September. Thanks, Judith
